Detroit Skyline (Black)

Detroit Skyline (Black)

Born and raised in Michigan, I wanted to paint something that represented where I grew up.

I was commissioned to paint the Detroit skyline by a client. This is an example of me over delivering. The client wanted an outline of the buildings not a solid depiction of the buildings.

I ended up repainting the commission for the client to the style they wanted. This piece is the direct reflection of what you do with a mistake.

I was extremely happy to paint this skyline and pay homage to a city that has given me great memories.

Cell

Cell

Remember a time when you left your house and you had no other way to call someone other than a pay phone? Remember a time where your phone was just a way to talk to someone and not a mini computer? I was in a hurry and rushed out of my studio to run errands for more paint and supplies and left my phone at home. Every stop I made I kepting looking for my phone. I would keep checking my pockets for my phone because I wanted to get information on a particular product line of paint…and no phone. I wanted to call a client…but, no phone. I wanted to get a coupon online…no phone. I wanted to look up directions…no phone. As I ran to the next errand and needed my phone for something…It started to sink in. I WAS TRAPPED by my phone.

Vulnerable

Vulnerable

The more and more I paint and let more people in and put myself out there with my art I can’t help to feel vulnerable. Yes, I’m asking the world what they think of my art by putting it out there…It doesn’t make it any easier.

I feel like an onion…every layer or painting comes with a certain degree of vulnerability.

Autumn Harvest

Autumn Harvest

I love fall and everything that comes with fall.

I wanted to create the mood of Autumn.

Brisk mornings, the rustling of leaves, the smell in the air, leaves changing colors, pumpkins, sweatshirt weather, Halloween and of course my Wedding Anniversary. Fall is truly one of my favorite seasons.

The Joker

The Joker

I’m a huge Batman fan. I wanted to pay homage to one of the greatest Villains in history.

Comics, movies, TV or animation I love how long this iconic character has been portrayed. Here is my version of one of the greats. To achieve such crisp lines I used a whole roll of painters tape to produce the look and feel for this painting. I had to let several days go by before i could retape in areas. You can even see heavy lines within this painting of how many layers of paint have built up. Totally worth the time and energy spent on this painting.
