One of 4 Portraits I created specifically for a Gallery call for art. I remember wanting to do something different, other than a woman, for a portrait. I was flipping through the t.v. and caught a performance by a DJ and the crowd was going nuts. The lights, the music they really couldn’t get enough of the music he was playing. The control he had over the audience was amazing.

I remember watching the movie Memoirs of a Geisha. I really never knew what a Geisha goes through and what kind of life they lead. Their painted face almost seems to be a mask that hides their true feelings.
One of the 4 paintings I did for a Gallery Portrait Show. My good friend took a great shot of himself and played around with the shapes and colors and created this piece. I reached out to him and this was my spin on it.
Born and raised in Michigan, I wanted to paint something that represented where I grew up.
I was commissioned to paint the Detroit skyline by a client. This is an example of me over delivering. The client wanted an outline of the buildings not a solid depiction of the buildings.
I ended up repainting the commission for the client to the style they wanted. This piece is the direct reflection of what you do with a mistake.
I was extremely happy to paint this skyline and pay homage to a city that has given me great memories.
Remember a time when you left your house and you had no other way to call someone other than a pay phone? Remember a time where your phone was just a way to talk to someone and not a mini computer? I was in a hurry and rushed out of my studio to run errands for more paint and supplies and left my phone at home. Every stop I made I kepting looking for my phone. I would keep checking my pockets for my phone because I wanted to get information on a particular product line of paint…and no phone. I wanted to call a client…but, no phone. I wanted to get a coupon online…no phone. I wanted to look up directions…no phone. As I ran to the next errand and needed my phone for something…It started to sink in. I WAS TRAPPED by my phone.
