One of my very first piece’s using texture.
I used spackling on a raw canvas and painted everything after. I don’t recommend this option.

My First Original Painting Sold!!!
This painting took years to complete. I started off painting it in a tie-dye look and really hated it.
So it sat and sat and sat until I took a non-drawing/painting art class at the community college and one of our final projects was do create something, anything we wanted. I did a small painting and finished way before the due date for the assignment. The professor was not really impressed and quite frankly, neither was I. So I pulled out the old Morrison painting and changed it to black and white. This painting launched my first solo art show.
I used to love going to the mall when I was a teenager. Remember the directory with the You are Here red dot…that had some influence.
Plus, personal growth and life decisions
I wanted to paint another celebrity and not a musician. Who else would you paint?
I was figuring out shadows and playing with different styles. Learning to deal with negative space.
I was born and raised Catholic. I remember early on in my childhood going to church every Saturday with my Grandma. I always have been drawn to religion and the effects it has on our culture and soul. To recreate such a meaningful and impactful piece, with only shapes and colors was truly a difficult task. How do you capture such a profound and extremely Biblical piece that has been captured by many artists time and time again? Answer…simple and pure.
